I've got a 2009 GT with a Vararam OTR and get 26.8 on the interstate mild hills. On a 1000 mile from stl to Chicago trip this summer with stock intake got 25 average. Just have to keep your foot out of it. Around town 14 to 17, start and stop kill mpg. Just a good as a cross over (Ford Flex, GMC crossover, etc) what do expect car is just as big as a crown vic with 100 more hp.

they haven't changed much from the ls1 on gas mileage. I used to get 32 if everything was right, wind, hills, speed, but mostly i got 28-30. now after the mods i am still getting 25-28 hwy. and the g8gt's have a bigger platform and are still getting around the same mileage. gm is good. do not be scared of buying a gt, good looks and the good fuel milege, and dont forget the power.

I average about 19 overall with city/hwy. On my commute to work I get about 22-24 with the cruise set at 75-79ish. Guess thats not too bad? I have a few mods though, HP Tune, Vararam OTR, American Racing LT Headers and Magnaflow Axleback.

Just bought a G8 GT program car yesterday with ~7500 miles. See the grin ==> : ).
I reset the average MPG leaving the dealer to see how it does. For the first 50 miles driving home (highways with a lot of traffic and some lights), got 26!!! Within 10 miles of home, hit some country roads and decided to have fun . . . knocked the average down to 22.5. But, it was FUN.
Impressed with this car. Some points:
1. Unlike a lot of new cars, the throttle on this car is linear . . . that means it is easy to drive conservatively at part throttle settings. You don't get it all at once.
2. Car is smooth and quiet at part throttle. It is not bombarding you with mechanical cues that egg you on. However, when you consciously decide to use that power it really turns on . . . Dr. Jeckyll/Mr. Hyde. Or, as my daughter said, it's AWESOME!
3. Lesser cars tease at you. However, you know you can squash them, so temptation is minimal.
This car is much more than just power. Aerodynamics, brakes, suspension and weight distribution are top notch also.
Bottom line, if a guy on his first drive with his new toy can get 26 MPG, I'd have to say that economy should not be a major concern for this purchase.

well if you drive alot of highway expect between 22/25 if you do alot of city driving 12/16 and combined 18 those are the real numbers i get . I drive avg 75- 80 mph on highway for 60 miles one way 3 x per week the other days i drive in city traffic with a few hard accelerations every once in a while. also look at the fuel you use that can affect it.
