Question TSTAT

Is it true that on the newer cars that put dummy engine temp guages in there sometimes? Because on my G8 my engine temp is always at the same exact spot when my GTP the guage is always fluctuating, so is the G8 a fake one? And do u get any power out of a 180 tstat with a tune and simple bolt ons?

Mine seems to work. Maybe there is a problem with yours. You can also check the exact coolant temp in engineering mode on the DIC display.

I haven't determined whether its a dummy or not, I know GTOs and all Fbodies except '98 have them. And NO you won't get any power out of a tstat for a couple of reasons. 1st - You have to reprogram the fans, so that would require the use of HPTuners, ls1edit, etc. 2nd - numerous LS engines have been tested on ls1tech and NONE have show any significant power gains, due to them operating more efficient at higher temps, and utilizing that heat for cleansing abilities.
