Question Easy Tuning

Does anyone know if there is a easy type of handheld tuner for the G8? HPtuners would just be way too confusing for me I think. Im only looking into simple bolt ons like underdrive pulley and cai and 180 tstat as of now. Anyone got any news on a easy tuner? I want to be able to keep my stock tune for warranty work just incase I need that

Glad you asked....lol...as of typing this, i don't think their is a handheld unit....but i hear one may be in the works. If you get the simple bolt ons as you mention, you won't need a tune, but....it will probably help maximize the add ons if you do.

why 180 stat? Most go for the 160....

What tstat does the G8 have in it stock? I figured id go 180 because I am going to drive this car all year around and in chicago it gets cold so wouldnt the heat in the car kinda suck if I just have a 160 tstat in there? And i heard that on GTOs the engine temp guage is a dummy one and just always stays in the same place at the operating temperatue. In my GTP it floctuates alot does the G8 have a dummy guage because mine just always sits at the same place or am I just stupid?

I never heard of a "dummy" guage..., unless you're referring to the 70's and 80's little dummy light as they called it. The light would come on after the car broke down....lol...but today's guages all serve some sort of purpose....i would hope that if the engine starts to over heat the guage would move somewhat....

Tomorrow i'll hook up my dashhawk and see what the normal temp hovers at and if it fluctuates....

The guage in my TA is a dummy (only year was '98 that a real one was used) so GM has been known for that! And why do a tstat when in your case, if you can't reprogram the fans to come on earlier? It's a waste of time and $$ IMO.

I think a lot of guys call them dummy gauges still--at least I do!

My 1991 miata was the same way---only moved toward the red when it was at 230*F or something.

I swear the TBSS is the same way. I points up from 180 to 220 or something like that...but it will eventually move...but the key here is that the gauge is *definitely **not** linear* in it's readings.
