A guy on another board put 549 rwhp and 504 rwtq with that rear end. I don't know about the converter.

Those numbers are worthless. You will start breakin stuff when you start beatin stuff. How you drive it makes the most difference. Tires are a huge factor, the better the tire, the better the launch but don't start bitchin about stuff breakin or how GM under-designed and built things. Am I on the CTS-V site? All those guys do is complain about the rear end and rear suspension not being any good because they have serious wheel-hop and then break the rears. These are mass produced vehicles,designed for Joe consumer,not Don Prudhomme, BTW-Have you guys ever heard of him? Anyway,You don't see Bimmers doing smokey burn-outs then timed runs. Take your car to a Road course Open-track day and compare it to those Nazi cars there where it will really shine,(until you hit the brakes the 3rd time).

for one i wasnt bitchin just askin a simple question on what they are rated for if for the car i want to make if not ill buy new shit so it can be the car i want to make it...but if they can withstand 600hp then i guess i would be saving some money

Those numbers are not worthless. It tells you that the rear end can take that power without breaking right away.
I'd worry about the drive shaft before the rear end. It uses rubber couplers in some places that most likely will let go after a certain point.

OK, Ok I didn't mean to start a fight and wasn't inferring that you ,or anyone ,was bitching yet. I am serious about the CTS-V guys though. All they do is bitch about how poorly their cars were built then go and try to break stuff,then wonder why warranty won't cover it or dealer can't upgrade to something better. In deference to Norm, Yes these numbers give you some idea what kind of resistance to breakage you can expect but you can break any of these parts with half these ratings.This comes back to how you drive it. Shock loadings with good tires can be considerably greater on launches at the strip,whereas a nice trip to your local? road course or Auto-x will really impress your sense of performance. Just my thoughts!

Truth is, we're still learning. We don't know what HP will break it, or how many starts at any specific HP will break it. We should start finding out soon.

Not to bicker but this is YOUR personal preference, to auto-x it. Some people love to take their car to the drags, but the majority understand the consequences that may occur w/ it.
And to touch base on the topic, I believe there will be a problem w/ the IRS when you reach a certain HP/TQ point. The CTS-Vs are just one case of IRS failure, the Cobras are another domestic IRS car w/ problems as well as the Vettes. I bet a solid axle will be the mod of choice for the hardcore drag racers, but I am willing to bet there will be a fair share of IRS breakages.
And I GUARANTEE this group (GT) will have breakages. We already have a 550+rwhp Maggie'd G8, and when the heads/cam market advances for the L76, those HP/TQ numbers are only going to increase, and with that power comes traction issues, so soon the Mickey Thompson world will be tapped. After that, the axles will....uh....FLY!!!!
