Default XM Plug In Special for the '08s

I picked up my G8 GT today and my Dad told me that he got a fax or something from GM that they have a plug in XM option special for like $99. He is going to send me the info when he gets a chance and I will let you know.

I didn't get a chance to take pics of the car as all the way back from the dealer it looked like rain. Hopefully if it is nice tomorrow or Sunday I can take a few.

Ummmmm....do you think the XM in '09s will be "free?" I am betting that the prices on the '09s are higher than the '08s. Plus with these receivers you obviously can take them out of the car to use in your house or another vehicle. The receivers are a little on the pricy side compared to the same thing listed on XM Satellite Radio - America's #1 Satellite Radio Service, however, you get three months of service free and free shipping.

I'm wondering if the XM parts added in the 09' cars will work with the 08' radios? I would rather have it integrated.

Doesn't look integrated at all, just a cable? to use a new or existing Xpress or other stick on the dash unit. In fact a trip to the XM site has a cheap unit starting at 99.99

I guess we will have to wait and see if it can be added so it is integrated.

Just be sure to shop around. As others have pointed out, it may be less expensive to purchase from XM or a retail outlet.

When it says "easy to install," I hope it isn't like it was "easy to install" on my last car. I had to separate the molding around my damn rear window seal and run antenna wires through the cabin and trunk. Then to top off my frustration with finding a weak FM signal to over-ride, it sounded just slightly better than if I had two tin cans connected by moldy bailing twine. Garbage! I have factory installed XM in my work vehicle, and it is hardly "CD quality," but it isn't the nonsense of a so-called “plug and play” unit. I'm just venting after remembering my wasted afternoon...

Question....So do we have to add another control to our cars if we want XM??? I really wish we could just run it through the radio...If you have to add another controller sticking out I don't think I will do it...

Arrow No XM in australia?

My guess is that it's not XM-ready since I don't think the satellites cover Australia. I've heard the same thing about the Nav unit. It's serviced by BT but GM uses Verizon in the US so no on-screen map-based Nav.
