Default XM or Sirius

HEy everyone,

I just found out that my g8 gt will not have xm radio already installed when I get it. I'm a little disappointed. I wouuld have guessed that it did because of the big lcd screen it has in it. Does anyone know if theres anyway you can get it installed w/ out having to have a kit or anything like that? If I have to get a deck eventually then I guess it won't be so bad but I'm wondering if the sound will be just as good?? Thanks

I personally prefer SIRIUS over XM. They got the OK to merge, so who knows what's going to happen. SIRIUS has a much better variety of music. The best way for you to find out which you like is to go to both of their websites and signup for the free online trial. The stream quality is low, but you can browse channels and get the idea. XM was too boring for me and the music wasn't very good.

I put SIRIUS' Sportster5 in my Cadillac and love it. I also have the home kit so I can just undock it and listen to it through my computer's sound system. The quality is good and SIRIUS also modifies the bass levels to provide a better quality of sound.

Hope you can decide and will like your selection.

Like the above poster said. The merge was approved. I haven't heard what the FCC has said. But, the normally do not go against something the government ok'd. I prefer Sirius. I had XM in my truck for a month and it was awful. I actually just recently purchased a lifetime subscription to Sirius.

You may want to hold off for a few months to see what happens with the merger. Soon they will probably have new radios that have more features than the ones that are dedicated to a certain satellite company.

Default SiriusXM

My 2009 G8 GT has was it called a SiriusXM radio.

Space Systems/Loral built satellites for both Sirius and XM and is continuing with production under the new Sirius management. XM-5 just completed final performance testing, and Sirius-5 will soon be entering the compact antenna test range for its final testing.
