New Member window shopping for the G8Gt at the moment!
I resently purchased a very used Pontiac Grand Prix GT '97 last year. It only had 60,000 miles at the time. I think it has 73,000 right now. I still have another 2 years before I pay it off, but I don't plan on waiting that long, because I need to purchase this Pontiac G8GT as soon as I can.
I like the '97 Pontiac and wouldn't want to trade it in to free me up for the G8. I will just have to pay the balance off twice as fast, so that by the time Christmas hits this year, I can have the Pontiac G8GT wrapped in a red ribbon in my driveway.
GM typically holds alot of rebates and special leases around that time as well, so I think if I can wait that long, it would be beneficial to me.
I saw the v6 version two fridays ago at John Hines' Pontiac dealer at Mission Valley (next to hotel circle); They had a black one sitting outside.
I went back the following week to see it again, and the sales guy approached me in approximately 5 minutes after me getting there. He introduced himself and told me to hop in. It definitely was something I didn't want to do this early in my window shopping ventures. This freaking car is a 100 times better looking in person than any High res picture can show. I mean gutsy, brawn, and beautiful all roled into one vehicle. I usually don't like the color black on a vehicle, unless it is a luxury brand like Mercedes, but this thing looked so freaking perfect in black, awhhhh man! I hopped in it and tried to compose myself because I didn't want this guy to swarm me like all the other car sales men I have ever come across. This guy was a true gentlemen, understood that I was not ready to buy this car for at least another 4 months and didn't try to pressure me one bit.
It seems that this is the new direction that some car companies are directing their sales divisions to follow, and it definitely seems to be Pontiac's take on selling these vehicles. I also got a call from a sales guy a week before that and he told me that even if I wasn't interested in buying the car for another year, he just wanted to help me with my choices ahead of time, he offered a no hassle test drive. And now that I speak to this other sales guy, I believe that he was genuine about it.
That is even better news, because my first experience in buying a car was a really bad one for me. I thought i would never buy new again, until I fell in love with this beautiful beast!!!!!!!!!! :worship:

Sounds like you had a great dealer experience.
Which dealer was it (so others in your area might know a good one to go to)?

i went to Greiner in poway and have NO complaints at all. the sales people dont get paid commision so i had no problem. i sent emails to john hine and all i got was a auto response saying they would call me when they come in.(that was about 3 months ago..) and still no call. i had another dealership call me back and the guy on the phone couldnt even tell me what color the G8 was or if it was a GT or base model, he told me it was a pontiac.. i got a response the next day from Greiner in poway california and then the guy sent me more information about the G8 that hadnt been released yet. no hassle what so ever!!! so now im crusing San Diego in a all white G8 base(couldnt afford the insurance on the GT..) fully loaded. so wave if you see me pass you up...
heres the web site.. Greiner Buick Pontiac GMC, a Poway Buick, GMC, Pontiac dealer new car used car CA Buick, GMC, Pontiac dealership

How much Insurance did they charge you for the GT compared to the V6?
That's if you don't mind me asking, thanks in advance.
I should find all this information out myself, but I am not ready to buy yet.
I have to wait until at least March of next year; just paying down alot of bills, to get ready for the GT. Not a car I would normally get. Was thinking of a $20,000 car, but this car has moved me so much that I have to buy it.
It reminds me of my very first car. What a feeling to want something so bad, alot of people compare it to feeling like a kid again, but it's what we men love, we can't help it.
I just showed my wife the outside of the car today, she a lady and doesn't care about cars. But, she likes it and would lease one with me next year.
I knew she would like it and didn't bother showing it to her until now.
I will take her into the showroom in a few months and take her for a spin, then she will fall in love with the sexy beast.
I don't want to test drive the car because I would be upset that I can't get it yet.
Good things come to those who wait, and I am practicing some patience in my old age.LOL
