The G35 is a nice car and plenty quick. Buttload of features too and from what I understand there are some screaming deals to be had right now.

Reasons for me choosing the G35S:
1. Same acceleration as the G8
2. Amazing handeling - from the cars I drove recently only the RX-8 and the
BMW 335i handle as good.
3. Awesom 5 speed Auto, I wanted the 6sp manual but the cluch sucks!
4. Love the engine/exhaust sound.
5. Much better made interior. (I had a chance to sit in the G8)
6. Great Bose stereo, bluetooth, XM.
7. Infinity is a top rated luxury brand (Yes, I know it's a Nissan...).
8. Got a great lease deal: $410+tax 39mo/12k, only inception to start.
(G35 Journey, Premium and Sport pkg. Msrp $37,200, selling price:$33,800)
It will be more expensive to lease a G8 and the same to buy.

I still love the G8 and I think it's much better looking than the Infiniti plus
the V8 must have more potential for tuning.

congrats on the G35 , but the G8 is a much bigger car (roomier) , lol you could probably fit a g35 inside a G8

1. Same acceleration as the G8 ( the g8 is slightly faster , and as soon as you tune the g8 for premium the g35 will get slaughtered)

2. 2. Amazing handeling - from the cars I drove recently only the RX-8 and the BMW 335i handle as good. ( as tested the G8 handles as well as the g35/37 if not better and only a hair slower than the 335i - and this is from a much bigger sedan, thats saying something)

3. Awesom 5 speed Auto, I wanted the 6sp manual but the cluch sucks! - G8 has a 6 speed auto ( 6 spd manual with the GXP)

4. Love the engine/exhaust sound. - nothing beats the sound of a v8 imo

5. Much better made interior. (I had a chance to sit in the G8) - the G8 is very well built and designed interior , the feel might be better on the g35, but this is miles better than other GM cars of the past.

6. Great Bose stereo, bluetooth, XM. - havent heard the blaupunkt , and bluetooth for '09 G8

7. Infinity is a top rated luxury brand (Yes, I know it's a Nissan...). - Pontiac doesnt have the best brand name , but i think people arent stupid and will know this ranks as a Holden in terms of status.

8. Got a great lease deal: $410+tax 39mo/12k, only inception to start.
(G35 Journey, Premium and Sport pkg. Msrp $37,200, selling price:$33,800) - seems comparable but again not sure about leases etc.

i think you will see G8 tail lights , its not too late , have you signed on the dotted line yet ?

joking, enjoy your ride , and thanks for the heads up of where to locate a G8 !

Your money, your choice, of course.
Sounds like though you sat in one, you did not test drive a G8 GT???
Here is my take – and I have driven several G35s:

1, Acceleration – roughly a draw.
[ C+D test of a M6 G35 shows Quarter = 13.9 @ 103
and their test of the G8 GT shows 13.8 @ 104 ]
BUT
A portion of that acceleration advantage is a result of fairly aggressive gearing.
One result of the final drive gearing chosen ( 3.69:1 - when combined with the five speed automatic vs the G8 GT’s six speed automatic trans. ) is:

G8 GT at 80 MPH in top gear = approx. 2,000 RPM
G35 at 80 = approx. 3,400 RPM
I find that a huge difference – and to me that is a real advantage for the G8.

Personally, on the highway, I would MUCH prefer the low RPM of the G8’s V8.
Though your preference is all that really matters – for you.

2. Handling – I hear kudos everywhere for the G8 GT’s handling \ ride.
I’d call this one close to a draw as well.

3. 5 speed automatic. I’ll take the G8 GT’s 6 speed auto., with a much more ‘relaxed’ cruising gear.

4. Engine \ exhaust. I’ll take the V8’s TQ & sound over any V6 I have ever driven. And that TQ:
G8’s V8 = 385, G35’s V6 = 268.

5. Better made interior. OK.

6. Bose, Bluetooth, XM. 2009 G8’s will reportedly have the BT & XM.

7. Infiniti brand. OK.

8. Great lease deal. Unlikely on a G8 anytime soon . . .

And the G8 is a substantially larger car than the G35.
An advantage to some – disadvantage to others.

EPA G35 A5: 17\24
EPA G8 GT A6: 15\24

So I’ll concede also a likely advantage in stop & slow driving.

Again, your $$s, your choice.
I may buy a 2009 G8 GT.
I will not buy a G35.

Enjoy your G!
- Ray

1. I agree on the infiniti gearing but what the tech show is not important as
as long as you don't fee the engine is stressed. For example my RX8
can "cruise" at 80MPH 6000RPM in third and I can't feel any harshness
or extra angine noise(because it can rev to 9K ...).
G35 has 7600RPM redline, G8 6000RPM so they are different beasts.

2. I can't comment on the G8 handeling since I did not drive one, but the G35
can go as fast as my RX8 on a curvy road next to my home (Rx8's
steering has slightly better feel, so is my friend's 335i).

3. The main reason I did not waite to try the G8 was the rediculos lease payments I was quoted (in the mid $600 range!). If I purchased,
the price will be the same as the G35 with worse depriciation (My friend
bought a new 2006 GTO last september for $23K).

Just wanted to let everyone know the first 888 were shipped on Feb. 25th and should be at dealers any day now. The rest were shipped on March 3rd and should be in dealer inventory by the end of the month.

I agree that they are different critters.
And each also different than any rotary I have ever driven.

The lease \ depreciation issue is certainly a consideration.

And again, good luck w/your G!

I'm not going to knock the choice of a G35 in terms of performance; the car has a solidly established reputation in that regard. My particular nit to pick is the carryover 5AT. The G35 desperately needs a tall highway gear and has more than enough oomph to justify it...this was a major oversight on Nissan's part, especially against the upgraded 6AT ZF Steptronic in the x35i's. Even the 6MT's extra gear isn't tall enough, but I'm not in the market for another MT anyway...

Oddly enough, it looks like the Euro version of the G is getting a 7AT, which may be overkill.

Again, I agree on the gearing but the 5AT shifts very fast and feels very
responsive. This is my first auto and I'm very impressed.

The 6sp ZF auto in the 335i is even better (the 328i gets the GM 6sp which is way inferiour to the ZF and infiniti) but I did not like the steering wheel shifter logic/position. The 335i is also faster than both but similarly equiped its
$10-15k more.

My wife's Mercedes E350 has 7sp auto; Its great but feels lazy compeared to the BMW and Infiniti.

I still think that the G8 is an amazing car: V8, much more space than anything
mentioned above and in my opinion better looking than BMW and Infiniti.

Back to the subject: does anybody interestead in the black 888 or I sould
just take my deposit back?
