Exclamation Want the wagon? Speak out!

Feeling a little frustrated by the recent news that Pontiac would likely not bring the wagon here because "nobody buys wagons" according to Lutz, I felt I should make my voice heard. I sent a comment via Pontiac's website, although I did not expect to get a response. Only a couple days later, I got an email reply! Here is the text from the message:

My wife desires sedan or coupe, but the wagon, especially if offered with AWD, would be an alternative to the ST, which will replace my Colorado when lease is up, allowing greater interior hauling room. It would be more of a crossover than the current crop of high profile crossovers and would compete directly and favorably with wagons from Audi, BMW, Mercedes, Volvo, VW while blowing the doors off the small wagons from Subaru (while not costing a lot more)

Chief, you couldn't be more right. I recently was on vacation in the Sierra Nevada mountains, and all i saw were SUVs and AWD wagons. and the wagons were all from the aforemetion companies. Dodge has an AWD magnum, but didn't see any out there. I think a G8 wagon in AWD would take a lot of the mountain terrain market share. There were a lot of people out there who would spent the money. There are plenty of mountains in america, and plenty of people with money in those mountains. A pontiac wagon would be great.

my mom used to have an 86 pontiac 6000 wagon. it was black. it was awesome.

Unfortunately, the wagon market isn't doing so hot. You really don't see a lot of them. The market is effectively saturated. A G8 Wagon would probably not boast enough sales to justify the import.

How could it be saturated? There are hardly any available. And there will be fewer, with the Magnum going away.

I'd certainly give a lot of thought to a G8 GXP six-speed wagon.

Me and perhaps a dozen others in the U.S....
