Default G8 Hood Scoops...fake?

Did a search, didn't find an answer...sooo, are those scoops fake or what? I'm talking about the two on the hood.
They sure don't seem to line up to anything in the engine bay, and if they were for cooling only they would probably be facing the other way like an EVO.

Anybody know?

Thanks

They are for cosmetics. For cooling, with the heat extractors, it could still be useful for cooling.

That said, there are already conversion kits out there to make them useful

i just test drove a GTO, and the hood vents do go somewhere but just not IN to the engine, maybe the G8 will do the same trick and then making them functional may not be too difficult.

the GTO isn't available in canada, so for me its the first time i've seen/driven one... if the G8 is like that i'm happy

that would be my first mod since i can't stand fake scoops anywhere on a car

They already have a ram air conversion kit made for it that costs not much more than a cold air intake.

i was loking around the net and i found a pic of the bottom of the hood, so i thought i would link here;
G8 Pictures I took - LS1TECH
you can see the hood vents in one of the pics, so it does go somewhere - not just a dead end, at least the air can be used

Word at left lane is that the GXP scoops will be functional.
