Traction control???
Is traction control going to be an option? I am assuming it will be since even my 00 TA had it.

I imagine it'll have traction control, yes. It'll probably even have stability control, but that's just me guessing.

I would be surprised if it didn't.

They'd be shooting themselves in the foot if it doesn't have both TC and SC available.

Stability and traction control will be standard.

An electronic stability control system is standard on all models, as is full-function traction control.

You can actually see the buttons for stability control (ASM) and traction control (diagram of a car with tire tracks behind it) in this picture.

I saw posted elsewhere that Zeta was able to do AWD. (don't know if it's true or not) that's what us snow-belters need.... If only the GXP model was due out by March of next year and AWD was an option, I'd stop wondering what i was going to drive when the lease on my Bonne GXP was up.

If you find something that supports that, let me know.

It seems my info is old (how sad) Orginally Zeta was to be both RWD and AWD. but then GM ran into the money wall and nixxed Zeta. When they finally realized their mistake, and reinstated Zeta, they dropped the AWD engineering to cut costs.... shame on them. now DCX and Ford have all-wheel-drive sedan available without the huge luxo-car premiums, and GM has left it self out in the snowbelt again.

I'd be curious to see the sell-through rate on the AWD models of the LX triplets, I don't think GM will be hurting themselves too much. Snowbelters like myself can use the cash not used on AWD on snow tires instead and be able to start *and* maneuver

You've probably got a point, but us 30 somethings and 20 somethings know nothing but FWD. The switch to RWD will have a steep learning curve.

HAHAH my brother is a 30something in those same shoes. My only experiences with RWD cars are mid-80 G-bodies... I remember sliding through intersections and rear ending a VW in my 87 MCSS. but i guess since it didn't have ABS, Traction or Stability Control, the New Zeta might be a bit better... not to mention a near 50/50 weight distrubution. Don't get me wrong in all this, at least now i've got something to think about when my Bonne GXP comes off lease. I was afraid i was going to have to fianlly give up on GM... I'm just hoping the options list is long enough to cover all the standard equiptment from my bonne

I know nothing of snow tires (I live in Louisiana), but isn't it common to buy a set of smaller wheels with snow tires to swap on during the winter?
I wonder if the brake rotors would allow smaller wheels to be mounted...

I have standard 17" wheels on our MPV but use 15" steelies with Arctic Alpins during the winter. Overall the 15" tire is about the same size as the 17" OEM. But the real plus in the winter is the narrower tire on the snows, compared to the wider touring's that the OEM's are.
I too did wonder if a smaller size tire & rim would fit on the G8. Guess I'll wait and see if anyone drives their Holden in the snow!

I can't imagine the size of the rotors preventing a smaller wheel from being used. I don't think they're that big.

18" snows are only $175+ each, not including the rim. Narrow 17"s would be a bit easier on the wallet
The main point is, if the pricing comes in decent on the G8 V8 (whatever it's called GXP or GT ), it'd be my daily driver which would include encounters with the winter elements. And I hadn't seen anything on winter tires and the Holden, at least not yet.

The GXP won't come out until later. It's going to be the high end model. The GT will have the L76 V8.
My biggest worry is rain, but I doubt the G8 would be as tail happy as my Formula is.

True. Plus I'm use to my Forester's AWD traction. At least the G8 will have traction control & stability control to help keep the tail from waggin'. Will it have a limited slip diff too?

I drove nothing but trucks until I got into the car I have now...and that's only because I inherited it and it conveniently replaced my S10 which completely blew up on me. A nice big V8 spooling the rear wheels will be a welcome return.

I've heard it does but I also heard it was weak.
One of the .au importers over on the G8Board.com forum said that they've already been working on an aftermarket replacement for it.
