Default Advertising for the New Year

I doubt I'm the only one who noticed, but at Times Square in NYC, Red hats displaying the Pontiac Name and the G8 logo were distributed to the crowd.

Also, Halftime reports for ESPN for today's bowl games were sponsored by the G8.

And there was a commercial featuring, along side the Solstice GXP and G6 GXP, a gorgeous black G8 GT.

I think it's safe to say that GM is building the hype. It'll be even tougher to find them now.

Anybody else see? What'd you think?

I havent seen any of them. I keep turning on the Tele at the wrong time.

But man, so many people in some of these forums are griping already about the lack of heavy advertising. Jeeze... As if the official sponsoring of the Festivities last night and it being the "Performance Machine of the NCAA" I don't know what these people want....

They say GM isn't getting the word out... Seems to me they are. Maybe the Superbowl will have a commercial?

I saw the G8 hats everywhere on TV. It was a good move.

I haven't seen the G8 half-time commercials. A killer Super Bowl commercial would be nice.

They won't go all out until its at the dealer lots though. It doesn't make any sense to go too in depth on a car that isn't out yet. Just enough info to get the anticipation up, and keep it there with periodic ads.

Oh and do you see how the USAToday already has a problem with the NCAA advertising for Pontiac?

I bet if they were advertising for Nissan, Honda, or Toyota the USAToday would be talking about how great of a move it was.

Hats, that's all you saw? How'd you miss the red G8 on the turntable (maybe only on NBC)

The worse marketing move would be to advertise heavily, create the hype and not have product available. You can't sell what you don't have and you can deter some customers from ever buying if they go in all set to buy one and there is no product.

YEah, that's what I was saying. Yet some people elsewhere think that blitzing with tons of commercials would be a good idea...

I think mid/late March would be a good time to start ramping up the commercials.

I think a good Super Bowl teaser would be nice. Then before they hit the lots get started with the advertising.
