Unhappy Update - When are they coming?

I just heard that the tagging process for non-888 G8s has been delayed and will not start until late January. With estimates of 8-14 week delivery to dealer after tagging process we are looking at late March to Mid May depending on geographic location. Supposedly this delay is to allow additional inventory to be available during the tagging process. Well that sucks.

Mike,
Thanks for keeping us updated!! I really don't understand why tagging can't begin until the cars are at the US port.

I'd think Holden knows what configurations they plan to build well in advance.

It probably has something to do with documentation for shipping to a foreign port.

Up to 14 weeks for arrival after the tagging process is a hell of a long time.

Besides, this is just what somebody heard.

I've "heard" lots of things; many of them turn out to be just that, things I've only "heard" because they don't come into fruition. Everybody that wants a G8 is panicking and starting to worry that they aren't gonna be able to get one.

Sorry. When I say I "heard," it is Pontiac fact.

My Dad, who is a Pontiac Dealer. I keep bugging him because I want to know if I am going to get the car I want. He told me this week that it got pushed back. Originally it was supposed to be in December.

Well, the only difference isn't in what you're going to get, but when you'll get it. I guarantee you, it will be the same car if you get it in March, April, or May.

Yeah. The word I don't like in the sentence is "if." I want a Gray, GT, with Sunroof, 19's and onyx and red leather. I just hope he can tag that combination. I don't mind waiting. I would rather get it in April or May when the weather here in the Northeast is better.

Will they not be able to order a combination?

See. The way this works is that they have to "tag" what is already built. There are no orders. So hopefully there is a car available when he gets to tag that fits what I want. It's not like typical production where they place an order and after so many weeks, it gets built and delivered. The cars are being built according to Holden, and then dealers "tag" from the combinations that are available.

Oh. Well, then they should be able to "tag" one for you.

Maybe they want to be sure that all the cars arrive high and dry, so that you don't end up tagging one that's at the bottom of the Pacific.
