from what I have heard it will be based on something similar to the LS2 400hp Commodore SS or something. Everyone is being sketchy. I wish some of our AU friends would give us more info on the possible LS3 6.2L that might go in it. I suspect that it will go in it along with the Camaro's high end model.

All signs are pointing to 2nd model year release for the GXP option and it will be the naturally aspirated 6.2L LS3, should be 425-450HP.

LS3 will be announced sometime late spring as the base engine for the 2008 Corvette.

Should be interesting. I'm going to the Chicago Car Show next weekend and I hope they have some information I love the GXP that I have now. I imagine this one will be just as nice.

I imagine the GXP would add anywhere from $4k - $7k to the price of a GT, depending on what it actually included.

I'd love the extra power but I don't think I could justify the price increase.

I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Yep, SRT8 Chargers list at $38k and change, at least here in SE Wisconsin. They sell closer to $1k over invoice, which is still a bit over $37k. But, then again, this is a 420hp 6.1L V8 with a 5sp AT.

Since there is no GXP around yet all we can do is speculate , but if i was to bet i would put good odds on it getting alot of HSV E series parts-

here is the downloadable PDF

hey everyone im new to this site and id like to say WUSSUP!!!!!

i work for Lonestar Pontiac Buick and GMC in McKinney TX as a salesperson.

if anybody has any questions about any of our vehicles ill be more than happy to help.

but about the G8 GXP?

im thinking either the LS3, or (and i really hope they do this) the LS9!!!!!!!

thats when wed all be doing this little number GM

if it gets the LS9, itll be running about 550hp, which is what the new CTS-V is supposed to have. whatever it is, its gonna be sweet. even if they keep the LS2 but raise the hp to 417 like the VXR8, and mate it to a 6 speed manual, its still gonna be sweet.

in terms of price on a GXP version, if it gets the LS2 with 417hp, and the 6 speed, probably not even 2k over a fully loaded GT.

LS3, probably in the 40k range.

if the LS9, probably close to the 45k range.

now whether it gets the LS3 or LS9, and even a beefed up LS2, its gonna tear an SRT8 to bits, cuz of the 6 speed, and the lighter weight.

cant wait for this badboy to come out.

The GXP wil have its own FE3 High Performance Suspension, specific 19" polished wheels, choice of summer or all-season tires. It only comes with leather interior, and is teh ONLY way to get teh 6-speed manual in a G8. Not sure if it will also offer auto trans. And no clue on the engine yet.

Oh, and who knows, maybe the GXP will have this.....

No lift shift

Seems like a waste for the HHR to get it and the G8 not to......

We now know for certain that the GXP engine is a LS3 but that's the extent of what we know of the engine. Numbers are all over the place from the Corvette's 430hp to 455 on the high side to a modest 400.

Did you hear how much it would cost? I doubt it. Would be neat, but I'd only be able to stare at it.

The GXP is going to have the LS3. It is already on our ordering sites. I have heard some interesting rumors about an AWD model. But a lot of that depends on the developement of the Active Fuel Managment systems and integrating them into the LS3 engine. These new EPA standards are clouding a lot of plans that GM had for Pontiac.

Yeah, that's what I've been saying. The proof is pretty much out there. I'm just interested in seeing what kind of tune its going to have. I don't see why they'd detune it; that doesn't make sense. But they probably will anyways.... I say, drop 'er in and call it a day
