Default HOW WIDE CAN I GO ON STOCK RIMS

guys please help with pics and info, i want wider tires on back of my GT sport package, 19inch wheels. a tire rep said he thinks 275s would fit on the wheel, any ideas or input would help. i want a fat tire on back, as i autocross my car and have hell with the rear end coming loose, plus i like the look of a fat ass tire in back!!!!

email tirerack and see what they say I forgot what he told me i could go to with out rubbing on the stock 19, when i ordered the new tires. I think he maybe said 255, which to me isn't worth it because its only one size wider. re-post what you fined out.

    I found this online...
Tire Size Calculator - tire & wheel plus sizing

Compare the sizes you're looking at and check the "Rim Width Range". It's its in the range it should be good. This also provides a lot of info on if your speedo will be accurate (or not!). The stock wheels appear to be 19"x8" so according to this site, even the 255/40 are just outside the range. 275/35 or 285/35 would require wider rims so you'd probably need 4 rims - 2 for front and 2 (wider) for back (unless you don't care not having them match).

the problem with staggering the rims in not being able to rotate them. Unless you have a reason for wider tires like lots of extra power why bother with wider tires, its just more money for what?

    Default wider rims, but stock!

so i got my extra set of stock 19s last week. going to have a staggered set made. im so excited to get a 10 inch rim in back, it will look totally stock from profile, but from behind she will have some fat on her. ill post pics in a week or two when i get the rims to the widening company!

Wow, for a set of 4? That sounds like a great deal.
